Spanish Town - 9 "Going Jamaican"

Valentine's package from meh fambily. Hoorah for Chik-fil-A sauce!

Elder Patrick has a friend serving in Mexico, and in his mission when an investigator knows the message/church/BoM is true and shrugs it off and does't act on it, they call it "going Jamaican."

Bro. Anderson seems to be "going Jamaican" lately. It's frustrating but it's been even more saddening. He has that 'golden investigator' story. He has the family support. He has a testimony of the Book of Mormon, priesthood, everything, but he is choosing not to make any effort to act on it. In the past 2 weeks we've only been able to meet with him twice, and I was on a trade-off so I wasn't even there. He's not giving the effort. We've even arranged for a member to pick him up for church. It's been really difficult with him. Hopefully this week goes better with him.

It's been a rough past few days for the ward. A recent-convert/neighbor in our area who was found/taught/baptized by the elders before Elder Patrick and I passed away unexpectedly at 23. Elder Patrick and I were the first to hear about it. Really shocked everyone in the ward. It's a difficult situation.

We've been doing a lot of finding lately and it's going well. Starting to meet with some stellar people!

Spanish Town - 7

pic - This guy has a "Homestead" polo shirt on! Ha! The Midway, UT golf and hotel.

This past week was amazing. Elder Patrick and I did a 'wol leap' of finding and met the uber-prepared Bro. Anderson.

We were finding in a nicer scheme in our area that we had only recently discovered that day. I saw an older man sitting on his veranda and I called out to him. As we started talking to him he said, "I studied with your church you know. I was waiting for you." Needless to say we had a return appointment for a couple days later.

As we walked in his house he had all his missionary pamphlets in hand. I noticed a Book of Mormon and a leather Triple Combination under the coffee table. He grabbed a photo album and eagerly showed us a picture of his 8 year old grandson that just got baptized. He explained his story.

Bro. Anderson's is 80 years old and lived in Los Angeles for 3 months of last year with his daughter and her family. His daughter is a convert to The Church and had her father sit down with the sister missionaries and attend church every week with the family. He was taught all the lessons and went to church every week for 3 months. He loves the Gospel. He told us all about priesthood, Joseph Smith, prophets, sacrament meeting, elders quorum, and he LOVES the concept of the Spirit World. When he moved back to Jamaica the missionaries here were supposed to contact him but that never happened. Now, 1 year later, the elders discovered an area they didn't know existed and barely saw him out of the corners of their eyes. Bro. Anderson is an amazing man. We already have a church brother planning on picking him up next week for church. Elder Patrick and I have been blessed to have been led to some really prepared people lately.
